A Day In The Life Of A Woman Corporate Bookkeeper

A Day In The Life Of A Corporate Bookkeeper

Wilma Mangubat takes care of their three children, works a full-time corporate job as a bookkeeper all while her husband works abroad. She’s a nurse, doctor, washer, carpenter, teacher, planner, and more, all rolled into one.

Titled “A Day In The Life Of A Woman,” this series celebrates the women in our lives. From the everyday to inspirational, the series aims to highlight women from various fields and share a bit of the diversity we experience every day.

6 AM: Wake up to cook food (breakfast and lunch), wake up the kids. Give my Grade 1 daughter a bath. Pack lunch or baon (main dish with rice) for school and also check if the kids have enough school supplies for the day.

7 AM: Assist the kids in going to school by riding with them on a public tricycle.

7:15 AM: Make my way to my corporate job. Ride a public vehicle with other passengers in heavy traffic.

8:30 AM: Grab a cup of coffee and a piece of bread as my breakfast in the office before starting my paperwork.

3:30 PM: Time to clock out after a long day. The company allows me to leave the office every weekday at this time because at 4 PM my children get out of school and I will fetch them.

I have no yaya (Nanny) and my husband works abroad so we are the only three in the house.

4 PM: Fetch kids from school, go home via public tricycle.

4:30 PM: Eat our snacks at home before I ask the kids to start their homework.

4:45 PM: Help my children do their homework, projects and study their lessons.

6:15 PM: Start to cook and prepare our dinner.

7 PM: Dinner time and I sometimes let my eldest son do the dishes after eating.

7:30 PM: Talk to my husband through Skype. I really miss him a lot.

8 PM: Let the children brush their teeth and go to bed. Sometimes my daughter asks me to sleep with her because she wants my hugs while she sleeps.

8:15 PM: Start hand washing our clothes. Some of the most tiring work for moms.

9:30 PM When I can, I spend some time looking for remote work so that I can become more of a home-based worker.

12 MN: Talk to God through my heart, watch my children sleep, time for me to rest.

Soldiering On As A Multi-Tasking Mom

“Most of my officemates advise me to concentrate on taking care of my children but I have decided not to leave my work until I have successfully set myself up with a home-based job. I’m looking forward to transitioning into online work this year, which will make a big difference to me and my family”

Wilma adds, “My two lovely children call me a supermom, because I’m not only a mother who does mom’s work every day, but I do everything else as well. They call me a nurse, doctor, chef, washer, yaya, carpenter, teacher, worker, thinker, planner and more.”

Wilma is truly an inspiration, being a very hands-on single mom and corporate employee at the same time! Her hard work will no doubt pay off in her pursuit of remote work.
