A Day In The Life Of A Woman Healthy Food Entrepreneur
Contributed by Angie Nithya March 2, 2018
She started out working in IT. Later, she realized her heart was really for cooking healthy food. She recreated her mom’s dishes to come up with her own health food line! What’s a day like for a food entrepreneur?
Titled “A Day In The Life Of A Woman,” this series celebrates the women in our lives. From the everyday to inspirational, the series aims to highlight women from various fields and share a bit of the diversity we experience every day.
Angie Nithya has always been a multitasker, having done it effectively most of her life to achieve her goals. She has juggled two degrees simultaneously, attending night classes to attain her degrees in Business and Computer Science.
She worked in the male-dominated IT world for most of her life, but eventually gravitated towards business by beginning her own IT venture. “Prospects of small-scale projects through friends and acquaintances helped me shape up my business portfolio,” she shares. “I grew my knowledge and kept abreast with changing technology. I loved the learning. But something was still missing.”
Angie realized that her real love was for food and her passion for recreating her mom’s dishes. She came up with simple, healthy, signature homemade dishes which her mom used to prepare with so much affection, it was something she was proud to inherit. Titled DELISH by Angie, the biz is still in incubation stages, but Angie is happy to continue with the support of dear friends.
A typical day for Angie’s:
6:30 AM: Start early either with a short run around my neighborhood or a quick visit to the gym close to my home for a short burst of cardio and weights. I’m usually out by 8:00 after a quick shower.
8:30 AM: Time for some breakfast. On most days it’s either a quick spin of fruits in my juicer or some bran with milk. This keeps me full till at least 11 AM.
9:30 AM: Off to the office for the daily grind. I usually start my day by reviewing my meeting schedules for the day and things that I need to get prepared for. A quick check with my team on the agendas for the day and some light chatter.
10:30 AM: Time set aside solely for going through my mail. I usually do a run through on my way to work and I spend this hour instead going through the important ones that require action.
11:30 AM: My early quick lunch. I try to eat light so I don’t end up being sluggish for the rest of the afternoon. Mostly involving sandwiches or soup with bread.
1 PM: My meetings are usually scheduled for the afternoons, either on-site or off-site. This tends to last me through the rest of the afternoon.
4:30 PM: Back to the office and a quick review on the progress for the day.
6 PM: Retiring from the office, I usually head to a Starbucks for a hot soy latte. Personal work ventures continue here. Often catching up on project progress and getting my materials set up for DELISH.
8 PM: Usually back home by now – I try to make myself a light dinner. Often involves creating a quick bake dish which is comforting. While dinner bakes, I attend to my personal matters
9 PM: Dinner time and a catch up on world news. Although I get my news feeds on the phone, catching up via a TV is somewhat still my preference.
10 PM: Time allocated for more personal venture work. I tend to get creative at this hour. Finding ways to improvise or spend some time learning something new.
11:30 PM: Off to a pleasant slumber, only to look forward to a more exciting tomorrow.
Inspiring Others To Push Their Limits
Angie is an example of a woman who believes that through faith in yourself, you can achieve your goals.
“I believe that there is no limit to what one can achieve, as long as you have the ambition and passion to pursue what you heart feels happy doing,” she said. “Never get discouraged by what others may think of your ideas but in return, prove them wrong instead.”
