A Day In The Life Of A Sales Manager

Sales manager and online entrepreneur Hazelyn Moneda lives out the saying “Love what you do and you’ll never have to work a single day in your life.” Read on to find out more about her daily grind.

They say that the only constant thing in this world is change. This is what describes me as a person. Every day is always a brand new day for me, and I love every bit of it.

For a decade now, I’ve worked in the Information Communications Technology (ICT) sales industry. I’m also a co-founder Make Up Revolution Philippines, a Facebook discussion group for women on makeup and skin care. The group now has 62,000 members and growing. I have an online store where I sell Korean skincare products. I’m also into Muay Thai and surfing, which keep me fit and disciplined.

Here’s what my typical day looks like.

7:00 A.M. – I wake up and prepare to go to work.

8:00 A.M. – Leave the house and go to work.

8:30 A.M. – I arrive at the office. I have a quick coffee fix before I start my day.

9:00 A.M. – My workday begins! I’m off meeting clients whether it’s internal call or fieldwork.

12:00 N.N. – Lunchtime! If I don’t get my lunch at noon, I eat after my meetings. When I have free time, I check my Facebook community to answer questions and concerns from the community members.

6:00 P.M. – Clock out from work. Prepare to go to Muay Thai training.

6:30 P.M. – Muay Thai training.

8:30 P.M. – Answer work emails and messages from my Facebook community.

9:30 P.M. – Attend an online class for Project Management Professional or PMP.

11:00 P.M. – Open my social media to answer Facebook inquiries before going to bed.

Agility Is Key
Sales is not a glamorous job. There are times when clients reject me outright or choose something different from what I offered. For me, these rejections motivate me to do better. Being in sales also means that you need to multitask and you should be ready – physically and mentally. It can get exhausting to deal with so many people sometimes. But I like seeing my clients happy and satisfied. The feeling of helping others and making a difference when I help people through my job makes me happy.

Always Make Time For Me-Time
I love pampering myself. I make sure every night that I have my skincare night routine to make me feel refreshed while reading self-help books. I’m currently reading Principles by Ray Dalio and it’s a good book to get management advice.

Words To Live By
“There are secret opportunities hidden inside every failure.” – Sophia Amoruso

Many people are afraid to fail. They think that when they fail, this is the end of the road for them. But for me, failure is an opportunity to become a better version of myself. It is also a chance for me to re-evaluate what I did wrong and how I can make it right.
