She makes her stand saying, “It should be an integral part of leadership development strategy at all levels to significantly increase leadership quality.” We are excited to share her expertise with you in this special Spotlight Interview!

Tell us about you and your business/career, and what you were doing before you started? Who inspires you on your journey?

I am an energetic leadership coach, a trainer and a facilitator. I work with leaders who have already achieved success by being promoted to higher positions and entrepreneurs who manage their teams. Like many successful people, they want to achieve even better results and maximize their effectiveness and success by unlocking their potential and strengthening their leadership skills and competencies.

I also help leaders to identify their WHY, HOW and WHAT, as well as to create their new growth-leadership mindset, and realize that “what got them here won’t get them there” (Marshall Goldsmith). I have designed and lead leadership and soft skills custom-made programs, 1-on-1 leadership, and executive coaching and group coaching.

My dream and mission is to multiply the number of quality leaders at all levels, as well as to benefit the stakeholders by improving their experience when cooperating with these leaders. Being an entrepreneur allows me to make my dreams come true.

Everyone’s Got History

Before becoming a leadership coach and facilitator in 2011, I worked in the international corporate banking environment for 17 years, leading people, teams, organizational changes, projects, and operational processes as a quality and control director. Prior to that, I was a director of cards settlement. As a leader, I’ve always had a passion for self-development and people-development, and I recognize it as one of the most important aspects of my professional career.

There are many people who inspire and support me in my journey. From my family to my international friends, coaches and business partners, as well as many people I have met along the way in Malaysia, Singapore, Poland and other countries. They have supported me by dedicating their time and sharing their experiences with me. Then, of course, there are my clients, who trust me and want to collaborate with me. Without them, it would be not possible to do what I do.

Outside of work, I am a happy mum and wife. I successfully use my coaching skills with my 15 and 18-year-olds.

Focus On The Positive In Entrepreneurship And Life

I always thought I would keep progressing as a leader within the banking environment, but then one day I realized there was more out there! Before leaving, I was close to burnout; I decided to leave and, today, I don’t regret it. I try to focus on the positive aspects of everything that happens in my life. I treat my experiences, successes and failures as lessons.

What keeps me awake at night? When my friends tell me about small problems they’re having either at work or within their families; it’s these communication issues people experience that really get me thinking. I try to think about human behaviour and how we relate to each other and decide on the best way I can help.

And, well, what gets me out of bed in the morning? I dream and believe I can make a difference in others’ lives.

My advice for those who are tired, burnt out and ready to quit is to take a deep breath, find somebody you can talk to about your situation, somebody who can help you to see your situation from another perspective, to discover different options, and separate emotions from reality. This should not be somebody who is emotionally connected to you, such as your mother, friend or partner. It could be a coach or mentor, and preferably somebody who will not advise you but allow you to discover your own options and allow you to make your own decisions. The worst thing to do is to do nothing at all and wait; often it makes the situation even worse.

Learning From The Past

The first thing I really regret is that I did not work hard enough on my English when I was at school. English was my third language after Polish and Russian, but now, even though I can speak English, it is still the biggest hindrance for me. So, if I could go back to that time, I would study really hard.

The second thing I would do differently is to ensure clarity at work. I left my previous company thinking that my boss could guess what I was thinking. It was my mistake. I know now that I cannot expect others to know what I’m thinking and what I want. It is my responsibility to be honest, assertive and clear with others. I also ask questions to be sure we are clear with each other.

Mistakes are part of life. For me, the most important thing is to gain a lesson from them, so I ask myself: ‘What have I learned? What can I do now to improve the situation? What will I do differently next time?’ On the other hand, if you cannot change it, don’t waste too much energy on it. Use your energy and focus on what you can do.

Malgorzata’s Life And Business Motto

I believe that for every bad there is a good. This helps me to focus on the positive side of every bad situation; I always look at what I have gained, not what I have lost. Bad things sometimes happen, but it’s my choice on how I deal with them. Living by this quote is one of the ways I stay happy.
