Kim Robinson’s ‘Go Get Gorgeous’ Book Launch With SCWO

He is a world famous stylist to the stars and has worked for more than three decades building a highly sought after repertoire of hair and beauty services, including flagship Kim Robinson salons in Hong Kong and Singapore.
I was honoured to attend Kim Robinson’s exclusive Singapore book signing where he inspired attendees from the Singapore Council of Women’s Organisations with the story of August Zhang, the model who graces the cover of his new book Go Get Gorgeous.
August Zhang, born in Nanjing, could not get a break in the highly competitive modeling industry, regardless of her perfect skin, long neck, and slender figure.
Agencies said she was ‘nothing special’, and that her look was just too similar to many other hopeful models, and after numerous rejections, she was close to calling it quits.
Just as she was about to give up on her dream, Kim Robinson worked his magic on her, accentuating her best assets by using her hair to frame her face and flatter her graceful neck. August was quickly signed by a top agency.
Zhang has seen nothing but success since the hair guru transformed not only her look, but boosted her confidence. This, Kim explained passionately, is what Go Get Gorgeous is all about, the inside-out transformation that occurs when you feel amazing and beautiful.
With women empowering women featuring as a strong theme in Kim Robinson’s book, it’s no wonder SCWO was invited to partner for the exclusive event with 20% of proceeds from book sales donated to support SCWO initiatives.
SCWO, Singapore’s umbrella organisation for women’s groups and associations was formed in 1978 to champion women’s advancement initiatives locally, regionally and internationally.
Unknown to most, aside from working with the likes of Hollywood’s rich and famous, Kim also works with women’s groups all over the world, including giving talks to battered women and survivors of abusive relationships. Some of these women have never felt beautiful, he said.
It’s not really about hair, or about looking pretty, he added, every women should feel beautiful and gorgeous – at any age.
I couldn’t agree more.
The essential guide features beauty tips for Asian women by Asian women from Robinson’s A-list clients including, Jennifer Tse, Janet Ma, Brigitte Lin, Kathy Chow, Bonnae Gokson, and Rosemary Vandenbroucke, to name a few.
Pick up your copy of Go Get Gorgeous from Kinokuniya Ngee Ann City, which includes a $58 complimentary cleanse and finish voucher which you can redeem at Kim Robinson (while stock lasts).
