Why The Future Is Brighter And Better Than You Think
Contributed by Yana Fry November 2, 2015
I’m writing this right now, and Singapore has just endured a month long of suffocating haze.
We no longer leave the house with just our essential items – we bring along our mask. If you check the news, you’ll hear rumours about an impending financial collapse, revolution in countries and lots of scary disasters. In spite of all these, I’ve never been more hopeful before.
I believe that the future is brighter than it has ever been – and will continue to be even brighter.
Let me explain.
On my travels far and wide, I encounter over and over again hungry, conscious people eager to make a difference, break free from the system and impact the world. There were people who wanted to make a change back in the day … don’t get me wrong, but not with this level of energy, enthusiasm and belief.
Belief is the key because the internet has brought information to the fingertips of everyone – and people can actually see other people making a difference in the world.
Technology has also made it possible for people to take their message to the globe and effect change on a scale never seen before. More and more, I see people standing up for what they believe in and boldly going for their dreams. Entrepreneurs, change-makers – they are the new rock stars.
This is why business people are getting younger and younger. With information and self-belief comes powerful action and that’s what I see in the people of today.
To add, the power no longer resides with the old vanguard of the West. People in developing countries are awakening to their latent power, and taking massive action like their lives depended on it. They are so hungry, their eyes burning with passion and desire. It's absolutely incredible. Vietnam is on fire, Brazil is on fire, and I could go on and on!
This is why no matter what comes, I am unbelievably hopeful for the future. In this generation, if you know what to do - you can go from nothing and shoot to the very top with a speed never seen before in the entire human history. Look at Mark Zuckerberg, look at The Google guys, look at a company like Uber! It used to take people 30+ years to reach billionaire status. Now, it's less than a decade.
With this undeniable truth in mind, let's talk about YOU.
If you are holding on to the paradigms and ways of the past, you're in for a rude shock. The old methods no longer ring true and you can no longer give up personal responsibility in exchange for permanent security.
No, this age demands you to participate, grow and evolve ... to take life by the reins and make what you want happen. This age belongs to people who are committed to learning, making mistakes, learning from experience and taking massive action. This age punishes people who try to play it safe, over-analyze and never dare to do more than dip their toes into the pool.
Honestly speaking, whether you succeed in this age or not completely reflects who you are as a person. Knowledge is abounding, opportunities aplenty, technology at your fingertips. If you don't succeed, you only have yourself to blame. It was all in front of you. If you do, you can congratulate yourself because you made the most of a golden opportunity.
There are no excuses in this age. This is truly the age of opportunity, abundance, hope and dreams ... the question is: what will you make of it?
