Connected Women Jobs Signs MOA with Department of Information and Communications Technology

Connected Women Jobs and DICT have officially taken a major step forward for women in the Philippines who wish to develop their digital skills for self-employment.

On February 8th 2018, Connected Women Jobs signed the Memorandum of Agreement with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) for the Women’s Empowerment-ICT initiative to provide a specialised program for Filipino women, focused on digital skills development for self-employment.

This initiative was conceptualised at the Women ICT Frontier Initiative — UN-APCICT launch on August 30th 2017 and brought to fruition, thanks to these amazing ladies at DICT with a true heart for empowering our fellow Filipinas.

How Connected Women Is Helping

Connected Women Jobs is committed to increasing the economic participation of women in the Philippines through the adoption of technology and digital skills.

The WE-TRAIN – WE MATCH training and job matching program will be rolled out across the Philippines through DICT’s 2,500 Tech4ED centres.

Though Connected Women has been and will continue to host training workshops in major cities across the Philippines, our goal through this sole initiative (in partnership with Facebook’s #shemeansbusiness) was 1,000 women. Signing the memorandum means we can help reach thousands more!

How DICT Is Helping

Tech4ED training centres cater to Out-of-School Youth and Adults (OSYA), women, teachers, Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) as well as their families and relatives, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), senior citizens, indigenous people, and entrepreneurs.

A celebration of the partnership will take place in March as part of a special International Women’s Day event where my co-founder Ruth Yu-Owen will be present.
