A Day In The Life Of A Woman Personal Assistant

This hard-working, fun-loving personal assistant to women leaders finds her job fulfilling. She tells of how she accomplishes work-life balance and how her love for tech helps her with various aspects of her life.

Titled “A Day In The Life Of A Woman,” this series celebrates the women in our lives. From the everyday to inspirational, the series aims to highlight women from various fields and share a bit of the diversity we experience every day.

Leah Arias is one of the newbies at Connected Women, and assists co-founder and CEO Gina Romero with her tasks. Leah sees herself as a goal-oriented, simple person, but she does have her hobbies like gaming. Previously an office-based virtual assistant, Leah says this first time of hers to work remotely is a chance to have more time for her loved ones and to have more freedom.

Here is a sample of how one of her days go:

5 AM-5:30 AM: Wake up and prepare for jogging or walking.

5:30 AM-6 AM: Jog or walk. This is my me time. I love to think and reflect while walking. Most of my decisions were made during this time.

6 AM-7:30 AM: Start looking for something to clean and do breakfast preparation.

7:30 AM-8:30 AM: Visit my dogs or sometimes I go back to sleep.

8:30 AM-9 AM: Check my tasks, plan, and sort out what I should do first.

9 AM-12:30 NN: My morning routine includes checking emails, team catch-up, chat support if there’s any inquiry, opening Breezy HR and checking if there’s anything that needs to be fixed, and if Frances or Gina needs something.

12:30 NN-1:30 PM: Lunch time. (Food deliveries save my life!) If I have time, I usually take a nap to regain my energy especially if I’m too busy.

1:30 PM2:45 PM: Check email and check if Frances or Gina needs my help (If I’m not busy).

2:45 PM-5:45 PM: Documentation process for Mailchimp.

5:45 PM-6 PM: Evaluate workload and plan for tomorrow’s schedule.

6 PM- 6:20 PM: Log out.

6:20 PM-6:45 PM: Dinner preparation or activating of my social life.

6:45 PM-8 PM: Catching up with my friends or chatting with the family.

10 PM: Even if I’m not living with my family and they are kind of far from where I’m staying, I still have my curfew time. (Lol) Yes, I need to be home at 10 PM or else everyone will freak out and I don’t want to see my mom on our door steps!

Around 11 PM:  Lights off.

Achieving Work-Life Balance

“I believe in work-life balance and since I can’t communicate with my friends and family during the day, I see to it to have a little conversation with them during the night,” explains Leah. “We love hanging out and spending the rest of the day talking about adulting, our priorities, and checking out who’s dating who. We’re the ‘single-workoholic-but-happy’ group. Then before going to sleep, I make sure my mom knows what happened during the day and check if my family is doing great.”

Favorite social media channels

Leah says her favorite social media is Facebook because it helps her keep in touch with loved ones, especially since she lives apart from family. “Also, I can check out some places where I can buy cheaper gadgets,” she explains on why she loves the app. “I got my laptop from a FB group at cheaper price but it still looks and functions like brand new.”

Advantages Of Being A Remote Worker

Leah enumerates what she loves about working remotely, full-time. “I’m free from traffic stress and I have more savings. I don’t need to commute though I tend to buy a lot of food due to stress-eating,” she shares.
