Financial Passion: Sorting Out Your Life
Contributed by Gayathri Subash September 19, 2016
Now that you have figured out your “why” and have become aware of important misleading habits, it’s time to take action.
Make the commitment to sort out your life and make a clear and committed goal in each of your important areas of your life.
Most successful people have a fantastic balance in their lives by following the “Whole Person” concept.
Find Your Pillars Of Your Life
“You only have one life, so make the best of it.”
A “whole person” is someone who is aware of the important areas of her life that truly define her and keeps making efforts to keep each area balanced. So, it’s important for you to take some time out to note at least three or four areas of your life that truly matter to you.
For example, I have four pillars: family, career, fun (things that I love doing, such as travel, dance, reading), and volunteering (giving is a big part of my life and truly only in giving you truly learn how to receive).
Each Pillar Gets Compartmentalised
“Every thought we think is creating our future.” – Louise L. Hay
Once you know the power of your thoughts, you will know the power of active channelling. Each of your chosen pillars are compartmentalised further to gain clarity and action. Give each pillar a goal that you look forward to achieving. Give each pillar its time, and schedule it on a weekly basis so it fulfils the chosen goal accordingly. Be honest with yourself and ensure these time parameters are religiously adhered to.
Tricks Of Effective Sorting
“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”
Other than the obvious fact that you have to commit to each compartment goals, you also have to watch out for the usual pitfalls. Don’t give up any pillar for the other. People get into trouble by putting too much time and effort on one compartment and they bleed totally in others. You are entitled to have problems and victories in each, but you can’t allow problems in one compartment to give you an excuse to under perform another.
Take my example: my family deserves me no matter how tough my career compartment is; my career deserves me no matter how tough my family situation is, and so forth. Now, imagine your family doctor takes a six-month no-show leave just because he fought with his girlfriend. That would not be possible, right?
The show must go on. When you make a commitment in each of your compartments, you truly abide by it, as each one matters. Don’t get emotionally tied to any compartments, in case of failures.
In summary, for our last article in the series on Financial Passion, it’s about discovering the hidden belief that’s empowering you and eliminating those that disempower you. The hidden secret to keep fuelling your passion through it all is your ATTITUDE .
