Healthy Christmas Treats Workshop For Your Kiddos (Event)
Contributed by Ujjwala Baxi November 23, 2016
Christmas is a time where cookie monsters roam free! Let’s cultivate a tribe of healthier cookie monster by learning to make healthier (and still yummy and fun) recipes!
Did you know 1 cookie has 6g of sugar? That is about 1.5 teaspoons. And that is usually the bad kinda sugars. Cakes, chocolates and candy contain a much higher sugar content.
The recommended maximum sugar intake for children from 4-6 and between 7-10 is 4 teaspoons and 5 teaspoons respectively. And of course, the type of sugar matters.
Healthier alternatives to cookie and treats could easily contain half the amount of sugar, and usually better sugar are used (Honey, Agave, or natural sugars of dried fruits).
Learn to make delicious healthy recipes like Raw Snowmen where good ingredients are added and using only natural sweeteners like honey or dates. And these bite sized goodness will be loaded with nutrients and health benefits, unlike conventional ones santa likes with milk (look at his waistline).
