The Importance of Water And How To Make The Most Of It

Herb And Fruit Infused Water Ideas For A Happy Body

T
he importance of drinking sufficient water daily cannot be over-emphasised.

Water makes up over 60% of our bodies, over 70% of our brains, and is required for a host of functions including good digestion, metabolism and elimination. Water should, therefore, be your ‘go-to’ drink.

Avoid fizzy drinks and juices which contain so much sugar and other additives. A little freshly squeezed juice is fine (e.g. where a portion of fruit is added to a vegetable or green juice), but avoid drinking glasses of pure fruit juice.

Drink at least two litres of water daily, more when exercising or if you live in a hot climate. Infuse water with vegetables, fruits, herbs and spices.

Keep a glass close by so that you sip throughout the day. Have open tumblers in rooms you frequent around the house, as sometimes taking the cap off a water bottle can be a deterrent!

First thing each morning, drink a glass of water with freshly squeezed lemon juice. This cleanses and gently awakens your digestive system before you begin your day.

Add a splash of apple cider vinegar for extra goodness — it has anti-fungal properties and balances pH levels so that healthy bacteria thrive.
