Contributed by Sabine Seilliere* August 23, 2015
This isn’t the normal coaching and training — although those are commendable as well– but something else, a whole new level. Sabine Seilliere makes sure that you fully deliver on your healthy promises and lifestyle by literally delivering the food you need at your doorstep. And yes, this is real.
Sabine, a health enthusiast, is the founder and owner of Sabine’s Baskets Pte. Ltd. It is a company that delivers fresh baskets of fruits and vegetables from the wet market to households and offices everday. She’s here to ensure that you don’t have an excuse to not eat clean and right, and to kickstart your healthy lifestye! Find out her journey as we focus the spotlight on Sabine.
1. Your business sounds and looks interesting! Would you please tell us exactly what you do?
We pick the freshest produce from Singapore’s wet markets and deliver to your door. We cater to households and offices. All you have to do is pick which basket is best for you, place your order, and select your preferred delivery timeslot.
2. What prompted you to start your company? Were there any certain points in your life that made you say, “Yes, I want to do this.”?
I identified a need for this service that did not exist in Singapore. My starting of the company coincides with a change in my life; just married, new country, and opportunity to establish my own platform
3. What is the core value and mission/vision behind what you do?
We want to help people eat well and live healthy lives. We are passionate about wholesome foods and going back to basics. We want everyone to eat well while taking care of the environment we live in. We believe that in order to create a better future for the next generation, we need to take care of ourselves and each other as well as the world we live in!
Sabine’s Baskets is our way of making healthy living easy and more accessible while supporting local business

4. Why did you choose these foods instead of other ones? Any rationale behind it?
There is a great comparative advantage to bring ripe and tasty produce to homes and that of wet markets are undeniably of better quality than those of supermarkets. Also, the perishables establish an enduring link between my clients and my organization. Finally, to be associated with balanced and healthy nutrition is a cause that is deer to my heart, especially since I became a mother.
5. Aside from this, what other advocacies do you believe in and partake? Why?
I set up a not for profit organization which builds classrooms and schools kids in Burkina Faso in Africa. We also set up a medical centre which treats cuts before they get infected and escalate in nasty wounds.
6. How did you start this company? Were there any struggles along the way that set you back and how did you overcome them?
To set-up the company was quite smooth. There is a clear admin process and tremendous amount of financial support for entrepreneurs. I struggle now that I want to expand: my e-commerce business is innovative and does not fall into any clear-cut category. It gets me different answers from different government bodies and thus at times I am really confused. But I believe that these types of hurdles only make me stronger, and force me to continuously rethink my business model.
7. Any upcoming events or seminars? How can people get in touch with you?
