What do you think is the most significant contribution Filipino Women make to the country?

I’m going to answer this with my publisher hat on, only because most people would probably dwell on the child-rearing and generation-nurturing contributions of Filipino women.

As a publisher, one of the biggest contributions of Filipino Women is the ability to use one’s story to inspire and move a group of people. Stories, especially your own, are powerful, and it can create a ripple effect—some visible, some invisible but powerful, nonetheless.

For instance, I have a mentee who is a long-time dialysis patient. Under my All-In PaperKat Books Self-Publishing and Mentoring Program, she wrote and self-published a book about her journey and survival through faith while battling chronic kidney disease (CKD). She sold a lot of books and has created several fundraising projects to help fund the dialysis treatments of her fellow CKD patients who don’t have the money for regular treatments. She also became an inspirational and resource speaker, as well as a life coach.

Her story is just one of the many stories of Filipino women, or Filipinos in general, that have a ripple effect in terms of inspiration and generosity. And as a female publisher, I believe it’s my contribution to make sure these stories get published in books and that no manuscript should go to waste.

What’s your best advice for Filipino women to achieve success?

First, define success. You have to be clear what success means to you. You may feel mediocre now but in the eyes of other people, you’re already the biggest success story they’ve heard. Once you know what success means to you, build something to help you get it. It could be a product, a service, a business, or a position in a company. Then find like-minded individuals who can help you build on that success. These people then become your success partners.
