Playeum’s September Family Activities – 4th & 10th

Playeum is proud to present a fantastic Family Fundraiser Events programme! We have crafted five wonderful events all around the theme of nature, added delicious food and drink, and included free entrance to the Children’s Centre for Creativity.


At $100-$125 for each fundraiser ticket, we hope you agree that this is a great deal, as by participating, you are also contributing positively to the lives of underprivileged children. Please do support us in this new initiative and come along to one of our events by registering below.

Sun, Sep 4th – The Ants Go Marching One by One … Hurrah! Hurrah! in partnership with Mark Wong

Have you ever stopped to watch a colony of ants? What do you see? Get up close to see a variety of unique body shapes and beautiful structures of ants, led by Mark Wong, an inspiring ant researcher.

In this workshop, children and their adults will go a-marching with the ants within Gillman Barracks for an exciting Ant Hunt Adventure led by Mark Wong, an inspiring ant researcher. After that hot but enjoyable work, you will be rewarded with a delicious ice-cream and a beverage at Creamier in Gillman Barracks. Afterwards, you will learn more about ants through a delectable ant-making activity using pretzel sticks and marshmallows.

We promise that you’ll never see ants in the same way again!

sAT, Sep 10th – Honey Appreciation Workshop in partnership with Nutrinest

Calling all honey enthusiasts, whether you are a child or an adult. Have you ever wondered why some honey tastes differently to other honey? Here’s your chance to learn how honey is produced and collected, including the different ways it is harvested from the hive and extracted from the honeycomb. You’ll get to sample pure honey produced by the bees that foraged from different types of plants and learn about the diverse characteristics of raw honey and its beneficial qualities. You will also learn about other types of bee products and their uses.

Come meet Xavier Tan from Nutrinest and you’ll be buzzing with enthusiasm for a new hobby. After the fun, enjoy a scrumptious lunch prepared by our neighbor, Red Baron.

Playeum refreshes its exhibition twice a year, with its current hands-on exhibition being ‘Hideaways – Creating with Nature’ (until 30 October 2016). 'Hideaways - Creating with Nature' is an immersive experience which invites children to explore, observe, construct, reflect, innovate and engage with nature and natural materials through exhibits, activities and interactive artists’ installations. Led by Creative Director Jeremy Chu, and joined by artists and artist collectives, each installation provides an interdisciplinary and engaging experience serving as an important reminder of the world’s ecosystem.
