Share Your Inspiration: Telstra Business Women's Awards Open Nominations In Australia And Asia

The recent Women In Business report by Grant Thornton revealed that, although there is a slight increase in the proportion of senior roles held by women, it was still only at 25% globally – and in many Asian countries it was even lower.

The Telstra Business Women’s Awards were launched 23 years ago to recognise and reward the courage, leadership and creativity of Australia’s most inspirational business women.

Last year the categories were expanded to include the Telstra Business Woman in Asia Award, for exceptional women who have achieved success in the fast growing Asian region.

It is clear we still have a long way to go when it comes to achieving equality among business leadership in Asia, and we hope the Award can play a role in achieving this goal,” Telstra Group Executive – New Businesses and Award Alumni Ms. Cynthia Whelan stated.

“We were thrilled to receive hundreds of nominaions of inspiring female business leaders from across Asia for last year’s Award,”she added. “Profiling and building networks of successful women in critical to overcoming barriers to equality in the workplace, and we are very pleased to have welcomed last year’s cohort into the Telstra Business Women’s Award Alumni network.”

Connecting Women

Telstra shares and celebrates the stories of brilliant business women and this is very much a program Connected Women can stand behind.

Kate McKenzie, Telstra Chief Operations Officer and Telstra Business Women’s Awards Ambassador, said the new category highlights the company’s expansion in the Asia-Pacific region and opens up opportunities for nominees to expand their networks and build valuable relationships.

“The Asia-Pacific region is an economic powerhouse and presents great growth opportunities for Australian businesses. In addition to celebrating brilliant women, this new Award will offer our Awards Alumni the opportunity to foster valuable connections with business women in Asia and develop a greater understanding of how they are succeeding in this dynamic environment.”
