The Sea Shanty’s Top Picks For Cultural Activities

If you are in dire need of a vacation and are planning a trip to Bali soon, make sure you include these cultural stops in your itinerary!

1. Master A Craft
Threads of Life is a fantastic fair-trade business that employs over 1,000 women all across Indonesia. Women are trained in the skills of their ancestors to create beautiful textiles and baskets. You’ll be amazed at their skills!

2. Discover Bali By Bike
Why not get physical and let Bali Eco Cycling show you a Bali most tourists never get to see? From just $40 USD, you can explore the magic of Bali by bike.

3. Art Workshops
Learn about the ancient technique of bamboo weaving and try it for yourself! Apart from weaving, there are many other traditional Balinese craft workshops to try, such as Batik, mask carving, and dance. Why not get the whole family involved?

4. Yoga And Meditation
Enjoy a yoga and massage package at the Aura Spa in Jimbaran or yoga classes at the local Klub Jimbaran. Of course, if you are looking for complete zen without leaving the villa, we can organise a yoga teacher to come and instruct a class in the comfort of the Sea Shanty! Just ask!

As an alternative, you can always visit one of the many beautiful temples in Bali for some quiet space.

5. Galleries And Museums
A country so rich in tradition with stunning scenery is bound to have some amazing art and historical artifacts. And Bali doesn’t disappoint in this area – there are many galleries and museums to explore.

6. Festivals
From kites to jazz and modern to traditional, there is a festival for everyone. Why not time your trip to Bali with one of their amazing festivals?

Rachael Peedom

I am an Australian mother of 3 children. Prior to moving to Singapore (where I have been since 2008), I spent 10 years in Sydney working in travel, mostly in the luxury travel business. The move to Singapore for personal reasons saw me move into a Regional APAC Meetings & Events role and after some time out to have children, a move to Microsoft as Travel Manager for APAC. Once we finished building the villa in Bali, I made the decision to stop full time work to spend more time with my children and to focus on growing "The Sea Shanty Villa" business. This brings me great joy as it allows me the flexibility to achieve the right balance between family priorities and running a business from home. Plus the regular trips to Bali make it all worthwhile too! We designed the villa for us to use as a second family home, so that also makes it a very easy sell to all our like-minded friends living the expat life in Asia.
