The Story Of The Invisible Box And Its Inhabitants
Contributed by Yana Fry April 12, 2016
Each one of us lives inside an invisible box. Wherever you go, this box comes with you. You sleep – it is there. You are awake – it is there. You are alone – it is there. You are in the crowd – it is there.
This box is very solid and comes in different sizes. Some boxes are really small, and those people are trying hard to survive on a dollar a day. Other boxes are really big and their inhabitants have everything you can imagine: from golden toilets to private planes.
But the truth is – they live inside a box, too. Everybody does. No matter who you are, what you do and how much money you have, you have an invisible box around you. This box is neither good nor bad: it all depends on the meaning you give to it. You might also not be aware of the box at all, but it doesn’t mean you don’t have it. It is like the sun that goes up and down every day – whether you notice it or not, it is still there.
This invisible box has two purposes:
The first purpose is to help you to survive. This box is an ever-changing substance that consists of your experiences, beliefs, thoughts, emotions, people, skills, social expectations, family traditions – everything that you have learned about yourself and the world around you.Everything that made you the person you are today.
It is a “good” box. You can tap it on the shoulder and say: “Great job! Thanks!” Because everything that you love about your life and what you have achieved as of today, you achieved because of this box – because it makes you think the way you think, feel the way you feel and act the way you act. It makes you that wonderful person you are now.
But …this is only one side of the story. Here we come to the second purpose of this box.The second purpose is to help you to grow, and as a result to do even greater things in life. How does it help you to grow? By providing you with fears and limiting beliefs.
You see, every human being wants to have something that is “more or better”… or both. And it has nothing to do with your current social status. A beggar, who is starving on the street, dreams of a better life; so does the multimillionaire. So do you. You have dreams, aspirations, and ideas of how your ideal life could look. Maybe you want to have more money or more time, or maybe you are dreaming about a better relationship or better health, or maybe it is something else. But the fact is – you want to have something you do not have at the moment.
This is where your invisible box comes in and brings all kinds of thoughts and fears. You would love to have more money, but deep inside you believe that you are not worthy, or money is dirty and hard to get.You would love to have more time, but deep inside you feel guilty for spending time on yourself. You would love to have a better relationship, but you are afraid to show your vulnerability, fears and truth to another person. You would love to have better health, but you trap yourself in a working routine that is killing your body, because you are afraid to confront social expectations. And it goes on and on…
This is a “bad” box. It prevents you from having what you want by putting all those fears around you so that you cannot move. Yes, move.Do you really want to have an amazing life you truly deserve? Then move out, step out, jump out… of the box! That’s the only way.The longer you wait, the more time you lose. You lose hours, days, or maybe even years of your life in a dull existence instead of living a fulfilling glory you are meant to have.
Ask yourself:Am I really happy with my life? Am I truly satisfied with what I have? Do I honour my gifts and talents? Do I shine the best I can? Be honest. You cannot lie to yourself – you know it.And when you are ready to find out what your truth is… be reassured you are not alone! There are other people out there who feel the same way!
