Years Of Wisdom In A Book

We live in a world of information overload. But wisdom is a different matter. Wisdom often seems to be in short supply, because wisdom takes more effort. It takes time to learn from and process our mistakes. It takes willpower and courage to examine the reasons why issues happen, and to build frameworks to help others navigate those same issues in a more effective way.

And it takes bravery to put those ideas down on paper and publish them in the hope that you can help someone else; that you can share your wisdom in a way that might stop someone else from having to go through the mistakes that you made.

Recently, I was lucky enough to see five such authors launch their books. Five authors who had come through the Key Person of Influence program and had realised that they could make a bigger impact on the world; that they could help more people if they were willing to do the work to draw lessons from their years of experience.

This is no easy task. I have huge respect for anyone who puts in the hard work to pull a book together. There were definitely sleepless nights; there were definitely tears. And I can attest there was a fair amount of bad language thrown around! However, these five, proud authors launched their books to the world.

Chris Milliken is helping to demystify wine and increase your drinking pleasure with his book White Or Red, It Is All In Your Head.

Dorothea Brandin is taking the transformative power of her personal and heartfelt communications training from one-on-one to one-to-many with her book Speaking With Your Audience.

Dr Gary Tho’s book The Pain-Free Desk Warrior arrives just in time for the millions of us who spend too much time slumped in front of our laptops or mobile phones.

Mette Johannsson took her experience in the corporate world and put together a PROMOTE methodology to help good employees get the promotions they deserve in her book How To Make Yourself Promotable.

And Olivia Chiong solves the problem of ‘busy’, which is a complaint that holds so many entrepreneurs back from doing the real work. She launched The Unbusy Entrepreneur – productivity hacks that she has been selflessly teaching others for years.

All five of these authors deserve our immense respect for condensing their years of experience into something the rest of us can learn from. If you are not following them already, I would encourage you to do so. And if you get the chance I strongly recommend picking up a copy of their books!

Is it time for you to write your book?
